Our day begins with breakfast, followed by a guided tour of the “oldest living Medina in the world.” Accompanied by a local official tour guide, we will explore the Medina and its vibrant markets known as “souks.” Along the way, we will visit significant landmarks such as the Royal Palace gateway, the Karouine Mosque, which dates back to the 9th century, and the renowned Karouine University. We will also pay a visit to the tomb of Moulay Idriss II, the founder of the city. Lunch will be served at a traditional restaurant within the old Medina. Afterward, our tour continues with stops at the Nejjarine Fountain, the historic Harem Garden, and the intriguing Batha Museum. Before returning to the hotel, we’ll take a momentto enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
In the morning, we will venture into the mountains towards Imouzzer, a region known for its dense forests of cedar, juniper, and cork oak trees. This picturesque area is home to abundant wildlife, and we may be fortunate enough to spot various bird species, wild boar, and Barbary apes during our scenic drive. As we ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains, we’ll encounter nomadic Berbers with their tents and goat herds, adding to the rugged charm of the landscape. After a late lunch in Midelt, we’ll proceed on mountain roads that overlook the
flowing Oued Ziz river. Along the way, we’ll pass by Kasbahs (fortresses) and palm groves, eventually reaching the adobe-colored city of Er-Rachidia. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, a city on the edge of the Sahara Desert, where we will spend the night.
Our morning begins with an exciting tour of the dunes in Erg Chebbi. We’ll have the opportunity to visit a Berber house and listen to traditional Gnawa music, originating from Ghana and Sudan. The tour will also include visits to deserted mines, encounters with Berber nomads, and an exploration of palm tree-filled oases. After returning to Merzouga for lunch and some relaxation, we’ll embark on a camel ride, which will take us on an unforgettable adventure through the sand dunes. As night falls, we’ll reach an equipped camp in the heart of
the Sahara Desert. Here, we’ll experience the magic of the desert, capturing stunning photos of the sunset and sunrise. Upon arrival at the camp, we’ll climb the tall dunes, witness the breathtaking sunset, and spend the night in nomad tents.
After witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise, we’ll return to Merzouga, where we can freshen up with a shower and enjoy a delightful breakfast. Our journey then takes us back to Ouarzazate, with opportunities to visit Berber shops along the way, offering unique souvenirs such as fossils, carpets, lamps, and leather goods. We’ll arrive in Ouarzazate in the afternoon and spend the night in a hotel.
We depart Ouarzazate in the morning, providing us with another chance to visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This famous 11th-century kasbah has served as a backdrop for numerous films, including the renowned movie “Gladiator.” After lunch, we continue our journey back to Marrakech, passing through the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass and arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
Today, we’ll embark on a full-day tour of Marrakech. Our itinerary includes visits to remarkable sights such as the Menara, a beautifully surrounded pool with flowerbeds that serves as an irrigation system for the nearby fields. Additionally, we’ll explore the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Gardens, the Bahia Palace, and the Dar Si Said Palace, which houses a museum of jewelry. We’ll have the option to enjoy lunch in the Medina, followed by a stroll through the vibrant and colorful souks of Marrakech. As the day comes to a close, we’ll unwind with a refreshing drink on a terrace overlooking the lively Djemaa El Fna Square before enjoying dinner and spending the night at the hotel.
