also consider climbing the fascinating Jebel Musa to admire the breathtaking scenery. Upon reaching Tetouan, a town nestled at the foot of the Rif Mountains with a charming old medina (a UNESCO World Heritage site), we will have a typical lunch at a local restaurant.
Continuing our visit, we will pass by the picturesque angling port of Capo Negro. Later, we will arrive in Chefchaouen, one of the most beautiful towns in Morocco, delicately nestled beneath the rugged peaks of the Rif Mountains. This enchanting, blue-washed
mountain town feels like a world of its own, with its old medina showcasing a blend of Moroccan and Andalusian influences, red-tiled rooftops, vibrant blue buildings, and narrow bustling streets converging at the lively Plaza Uta El Hammam and the restored Kasbah.
We will spend the night at a local riad.
After enjoying breakfast at your accommodation, we will bid farewell to the captivating Chefchaouen and head towards another unique destination, the city of Fes. Known as the cultural, spiritual, and intellectual hub of Morocco, Fes has historically attracted scholars,
mathematicians, and philosophers. Skilled craftsmen contributed to the construction of houses and palaces, while rulers sponsored the development of mosques and religious schools. En route, we will explore the remote Rif Mountains, with their hidden valleys where
you can relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch amidst stunning views and landscapes. You will spend the night in a hotel located within the medina.
After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a tour of the historical gates and ramparts of the Medina of Fes. Visit the “Marinid tombs” and the 14th-century “Madrasa Bou Inania,” renowned for its exceptional museum featuring illuminated manuscripts and ceramics.
We will pause for a lunch break in the Medina before continuing our journey to explore the intriguing narrow alleys of the Medina, including the lavishly decorated Attarin’s madrasa, the Funduq of Nejarin, the medieval tannery, and the abundant array of handicrafts,
copperware, and ceramics. After an enlightening exploration of the oldest city in Morocco, we will return to your accommodation.
After breakfast, we will set off towards the beautiful city of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Our journey will take us through the Atlas Mountains, where the largest forest in Morocco, the Cedar Forest, is home to a population of monkeys. After a brief
stop to enjoy the area, we will continue our journey through the Tizi N’talghamt pass, passing through Midelt city and the magnificent Ziz gorges. Continuing our adventure, we will reach Merzouga via Erfoud, passing through the breathtaking Ziz Valley. Along the way, we will make a memorable stop to admire the panoramic landscapes and breathtaking views. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will be warmly welcomed with a traditional Moroccan hot mint tea. The overnight stay will be at a hotel.
Today’s itinerary includes exploring the surrounding areas of the beautiful Erg Echebbi desert. We will visit the fascinating village of Khamlia, home to the Gnaoua people who migrated from Sudan and Senegal as slaves centuries ago. Here, you will witness their unique
way of life and have the opportunity to listen to Gnaoua music. Later, we will visit one of the nomadic families in their traditional house, where you can admire Berber handicrafts and share a mint tea with them. In the evening, we will ride camels once again into the mesmerizing sand dunes to witness the sunset over the golden sands of the Sahara Desert. You will camp overnight in a luxurious Berber tent and enjoy Berber drums and music around the campfire under the sparkling stars.
Wake up in the morning to witness the sunrise over the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi desert. Afterward, you will ride camels back to Merzouga, where you will have breakfast and the opportunity to freshen up with a shower at the hotel. We will then drive to visit the Todra
Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here, you can go for a hike or leisurely stroll along the river. Continuing our journey, we will drive towards the Dades Gorge, where you will spend the night and enjoy dinner overlooking the valley.
After breakfast at your accommodation, we will head towards Ouarzazate. Along the way, we will travel through the Road of Thousand Kasbahs, where you will encounter several ancient and well-preserved kasbahs. We will also visit the Valley of Roses. Our journey continues to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular filming location for Hollywood movies such as Gladiator and The Mummy. After exploring Ouarzazate, we will drive through the scenic landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains and the renowned Tizi N’Tichka pass. In the early evening, we will arrive in Marrakech and take you to a hotel/riad, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
On the eighth day, you will embark on a guided tour of Marrakech’s landmarks and monuments. Accompanied by a professional local guide, you will visit the Majorelle Gardens, the Berber Museum, Rahba Kedima (a vibrant traditional market offering a variety of spices), Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the Saadian Tombs. You will have dinner and spend the night at a riad.
After breakfast at the riad, we will drive to the coastal city of Essaouira. Along the way, we will make a stop to visit an Argan oil women’s cooperative, where you can observe the extraction process of this unique oil, known for its various uses in cosmetics and nourishment. We will also have opportunities for photo breaks. The night will be spent at a hotel in Essaouira.
Following breakfast, you will embark on an explorative journey to the incredible historical sites of Essaouira. The itinerary includes visits to Scala, the Kasbah (a French coastal town replica constructed by Théodore Cornut), a stroll through the old Medina with its rich
handicraft items, and the traditional colored houses. You will enjoy a delightful seafood lunch at an authentic restaurant located in the port. Essaouira is known for its annual Gnaoua Music Festival, which attracts over 300,000 people in June. The city also boasts a vast beach called Plage de Safi. Additionally, you will visit the Jewish quarter in the old Medina. Spend the night at a hotel in Essaouira.
Today, you will have free time to explore and enjoy the winding streets and seaside ramparts of Essaouira at your own pace before we drive back to Marrakech. In the afternoon, you will have the freedom to engage in various activities in Marrakech, such as taking a calèche ride
(horse-drawn carriage) to the serene Majorelle Gardens or visiting the Museum of Islamic Art. You may also want to experience a traditional Moroccan steam bath called Hammam, a rewarding treat after our busy Moroccan adventure. Spend the night at a riad in Marrakech.
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport based on your departure time. This 12 day Morocco Tour from Tangier comes to an end today, marking the completion of your Moroccan adventure.
